The Boa are farmers who live in northern Republic of Congo in the savannah. The villages are run by a chef selected in one of the main clan. The Boa are often in contact with their neighbors, the Mangbetu. Art Boa is known for its masks with large protruding ears with layers of colors alternately white and black. These masks were used during rites previous wars. Boa formerly insert leaf stalks in the ears to enlarge them.
