Cup for offerings Yoruba - Nigeria

Beautiful cup for offerings. Its base is decorated with six characters, alternately a man and a woman who are sitting on the edge of the base and held each other by the arms. Very nice attitude of the characters. The lid is topped with a chicken and a snake. The snake's tail wrapped around a chicken foot and bites the other foot. The chicken bites the snake with its beak. Very nice brown patina with traces of use of polychrome blue, yellow, white. The base and cover are split with a native repair. This type of cup was used during the consultation of oracles and out of temples. It placed the seeds, nuts, palm kernels and kola nuts, essential for divination and ceremonies.
